Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) settings

If you are using an iONLINE's POP mailbox you are required to enter in an outgoing mail server or SMTP server when setting up your mailbox on devices. 


iONLINE POP Mailbox 

If your email address is hosted by iONLINE you can also use the following SMTP server: 

Server: hosting-01.ionline.co.za 
Port: 587
Username: Email address
Password: your POP account's password provided to you by iONLINE or your IT Admin. 

NOTE : To use iONLINE's recommended mail server "hosting-01.ionline.co.za " you have to authenticate with your username and password. Remember to enable "Outgoing Mail Server Authentication" in your e-mail program. Without enabling this setting you will not be able to send e-mails using hosting-01.ionline.co.za.


1. Outlook 2000

a. Go to Tools
b. Services
c. Accounts (if Services is not listed).

Select your iOnline E-Mail Account and press "Properties." Go to the "Servers" tab, and check "My server requires authentication" under Outgoing Mail Server. Press "Settings," select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server," then press "OK" three times to save the changes & return to Outlook. Finally, restart your computer.


2. Outlook 2002 & 2003

a. Go to Tools
b. E-Mail Accounts.

Select "View or change existing e-mail accounts" and press "Next." Select your iOnline POP/SMTP account and press "Change." Press "More Settings." Go to the "Outgoing Server" tab, and check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication." Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" and press "OK." Press "Next," then press "Finish" to confirm your changes and return to Outlook. Finally, restart your computer.


3. Outlook 2007

a. Go to Tools
b. Account Settings

Select your iOnline POP/SMTP account and press "Change." Press "More Settings." Go to the "Outgoing Server" tab, and check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication." Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" and press "OK." Press "Next," then press "Finish" to confirm your changes and return to Outlook. Finally, restart your computer.




4. Outlook 2010

a. Go to file
b. Select info on the left hand menu and click on Account Settings

Select your iOnline POP/SMTP account and press "Change." Press "More Settings." Go to the "Outgoing Server" tab, and check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication." Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" and press "OK." Press "Next," then press "Finish" to confirm your changes and return to Outlook. Finally, restart your computer


5. Outlook Express

a. Go to Tools
b. Accounts

Select the "Mail" tab. Select your iOnline account and press "Properties." Go to the "Servers" tab, and check "My server requires authentication" under Outgoing Mail Server. Press "Settings," select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server," then press "OK" twice times to save the changes, then press "Close" to return to Outlook Express. Finally, restart your computer.


6. Windows Mail (Vista Mail)

a. Go to Tools
b. Accounts

Under Mail, click your iOnline e-mail account, and then click Properties. Click the Servers tab, under Outgoing Mail Server, select the My server requires authentication check box.
