Traceroute is run from a command prompt or terminal window.To run a traceroute, run the tracert command followed by the address of a website. For example,if you wanted to run a traceroute to 8.8.8.8, you’d run the command:
tracert 8.8.8.8
(On Mac or Linux, run traceroute 8.8.8.8 instead.)
How to Use Trace on Windows
- Open the Start Menu, search for the Command Prompt, and select it.
- Type tracert and then enter either the IP address of the device or the URL of a site you’d like to trace to. (i.e tracert 8.8.8.8)
