Select the correct install file for your computer from the options below:
Windows: http://www.ionline.co.za/downloads/iBackup_4_2_0_SP_Client_Only.zip
Once downloaded, extract the zip file and run the exe file.
Follow the instructions below to complete installation and create your backup schedule.
Click Next
Select 'I accept the agreement' and click Next
Enter a iBackup ID value. Preferrably make this your email address.
Click Next
Select Typical
Click Next
You can now review your installation settings
Once you're ready, click Install
iBackup is now busy installing...
Once the installation process completes, click on Next
In this final step of the software installation, select 'Start iBackup application' and 'Open the iBackup Web Console.'
Click Finish
Now that the software is installed, we can go ahead and create a backup schedule which will backup the data to the remote server.
First we'll log in to the iBackup Web Console with the default user credentials.
Select the Time Zone settings as (GMT+02:00) Africa/Johannesburg
Click OK on the confirmation message
Now we need to authenticate the new backup user to the remote server.
Enter the backup server name as ibackup.ionline.co.za
You can choose your own password
Click on Authenticate
The page you're on now will let you configure your schedule.
Step 1: Enter a schedule name, e.g. Documents
Step 2: Select the folders on your computer that need to be backed up. Remember that the selected folders may not be larger in size than the disk space you've purchased from iOnline.
Step 3: This step has a couple of configurations which we'll go through now
-First, select the 'Backup Type' as Remote Server
-Secondly, click on 'Add Backup Server'. On the popup window, enter the Machine Name as ibackup.ionline.co.za and leave 'Machine Type' on Server then click on Add Peer.
-Thirdly, you have to choose whether you want to set an encryption password on your backup or not. Setting an encryption password will make your data more secure, but you should make note of your chosen
encryption password or use a password that you have no chance of forgetting as there is no way for iOnline to recover or change this password. Thus loss of this password would render your backup schedule 100% useless.
Should you wish not to use an encryption password, click on the Edit button found next to the 'Encryption' heading and select Disable.
Step 4: The norm for running backups are to run them on a daily basis at a certain time of day when your computer is most likely to be powered on. Here you have the option to set your schedule to suit your need and availability.
Once you've set up the schedule completely, click on Save Backup.
Now you can create additional backup schedules in the same manner or if the one you've just created covers all the necessary data, you can log out of iBackup Web Console to finish.
